Land Yacht Problems

After receiving and looking over my free boat, and coming up with this list, I figured fixing up this boat just wasn't going to happen. Here is the list of troubles...

Critical Problems (show stoppers)

  1. Deck cracked at stemhead fitting; stay pulling out.
  2. Deck cracked (3 foot long crack) forward of cockpit.
  3. Forepeak vent (for spinnaker chute, perhaps?) not bolted down.
  4. Mainsail missing battens.
  5. Daggerboard cap shattered.
  6. Rudder downhaul (bungee) broken.
  7. Trailer tires flat, rotten.
  8. Trailer needs title change.
  9. Deck cracked at starboard shroud, plate pulling out.
  10. No anchor rhode.
  11. No life preservers.
  12. Trailer lights broken.
  13. Trailer wheel bearings loose; need repacking.
  14. Need to install towing package on my van.
  15. Four holes in hull, up to 4 inches long.

Less Critical Problems (I'd sail with these amiss)

  1. Jib head grommet broken.
  2. Starboard forepeak cover unsecured (line broken/missing).
  3. Gooseneck traveler gummed up.
  4. Starboard shroud turnbuckle rusted solid.
  5. Anchor chain shackle not wired.
  6. Gunwhales split at oarlocks (what are oarlocks doing on a sailboat anyhow)?
