Land Yacht Problems
After receiving and looking over my free boat, and coming up with this
list, I figured fixing up this boat just wasn't going to happen. Here is
the list of troubles...
Critical Problems (show stoppers)
- Deck cracked at stemhead fitting; stay pulling out.
- Deck cracked (3 foot long crack) forward of cockpit.
- Forepeak vent (for spinnaker chute, perhaps?) not bolted down.
- Mainsail missing battens.
- Daggerboard cap shattered.
- Rudder downhaul (bungee) broken.
- Trailer tires flat, rotten.
- Trailer needs title change.
- Deck cracked at starboard shroud, plate pulling out.
- No anchor rhode.
- No life preservers.
- Trailer lights broken.
- Trailer wheel bearings loose; need repacking.
- Need to install towing package on my van.
- Four holes in hull, up to 4 inches long.
Less Critical Problems (I'd sail with these amiss)
- Jib head grommet broken.
- Starboard forepeak cover unsecured (line broken/missing).
- Gooseneck traveler gummed up.
- Starboard shroud turnbuckle rusted solid.
- Anchor chain shackle not wired.
- Gunwhales split at oarlocks (what are oarlocks doing on a sailboat anyhow)?
